Exams are conducted amid strict precautionary measures due to COVID-19

Students complained, on Wednesday, about the difficulty of the Algebra and Stereo Geometry exam in this year’s Thanaweyya Amma (high school leaving) exams. Some students said that about 25% of the exam’s questions were difficult, while others expressed their dissatisfaction with the answers. The cases included two students from Giza and Cairo governorates that were involved in leaking the exam on social media platforms, as well as 25 cases of electronic cheating.

However, the Central Operations Room of the Ministry of Education and Technical Education confirmed that the photos circulated before the start of the second language exams are fake.

The arrest came after the student was found to have published photos on social media sites showing parts of the exam.

Tarek Shawky, Minister of Education and Technical Education, said that the student was identified as he had photocopied his paper. The minister added that there is no point in photocopying the exams, as there are different forms of the exam.

Shawky, who gave his approval to the results for the 2020 Thanaweyya Amma exams, said that about 18% of students who sat the exams gained an average score of over 95%.
