Mohammad Salameh, Deputy Chief Field Education Programme at UNRWA, commented: “Recognizing the importance of students’ participation and interaction in the digital space, UNRWA seeks to engage in this world and benefit from its potential to equip students with the necessary skills and knowledge, in order to maintain their digital security on one hand and develop their competencies that help them interact with their surroundings positively on the other hand. Hence, the importance of the Agency’s schools’ participation with META in working together on this”.

The AR/VR Metathon will feature three major components including a training program, an Africa-wide hackathon which will take place across 16 countries in Africa physically and open to everyone virtually, followed by an intensive bootcamp to further develop solutions. These components will run from Mid-August – April 2023.

Meta launches My Digital World- Adults Pilot Program in Lebanon

My Digital World – Adults Pilotprogram is designed to be delivered as a complete curriculum in both virtual and in-person learning environments. The program will include an extensive training of the Trainer model to create a pool of 30 – 50 local community facilitators who will lead the training of more than 2000 beneficiaries and lead public awareness campaigns.

Meta: Harmful content can evolve quickly. Our new AI system adapts to tackle it.

To address this bottleneck, we’ve built and recently deployed a new AI technology called Few-Shot Learner (FSL) that can adapt to take action on new or evolving types of harmful content within weeks instead of months. It not only works in more than 100 languages, but it also learns from different kinds of data, such as images and text, and it can strengthen existing AI models that are already deployed to detect other types of harmful content.
