According to Colonel Ghareeb Abdel Hafez — Spokesperson for the Egyptian Armed Forces — the mission is part of the Egyptian Armed Forces’ efforts, in co-operation with the US and friendly countries, to confront threats and challenges to the security and stability of the region.
