President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi met on Tuesday with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and his accompanying delegation in in Sharm El-Sheikh.

Abbas Kamel, the Head of Egypt’s General Intelligence Service, attended the meeting.

Bassam Rady, the Spokesperson of the Egyptian Presidency, said that Al-Sisi stressed the steadfastness of Egypt’s support for the Palestinian cause and its just and comprehensive settlement in accordance with the standards of international legitimacy.

He also stressed Egypt’s keenness to support the current Palestinian diplomatic move internationally and regionally to find a political path that would allow the resumption of the peace negotiations.

On his part, the Palestinian president expressed his appreciation for Egypt’s sincere efforts under the leadership of Al-Sisi and its esteemed efforts in supporting the Palestinian cause and enabling the Palestinian people to withstand the various challenges facing the Palestinian cause.

He also praised Egypt’s historical role in this regard and its continuity with a view to reaching a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue.

The meeting witnessed a review of the reconstruction efforts of the Gaza Strip as well as discussing the latest developments in the Palestinian arena in light of developments at all internal, regional, and international levels, which in turn affect the Palestinian issue.

The two sides agreed to continue intensive consultations and coordination both bilaterally and at the trilateral level with the participation of the brotherly Jordan to revive the peace process.
