Egypt has sent several trucks loaded with liquid oxygen to cover the needs of the health sector in Libya.

Libya’s Ministry of Health said, in a statement, that this will be the first of joint cooperation between the two countries. It also activates the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the ministry and its Egyptian counterpart.

The Libyan ministry indicated that the MoU aims to develop the health sector, whilst inaugurating a new phase to boost scientific and technical progress, and raise the performance of the two ministries.

The two countries’ Ministries of Health signed, last April, a MoU relating to the healthcare field, in which they agreed to treat Libyans like Egyptians in terms of healthcare and treatment. This would also see the entrance of patients and ambulances into Egyptian territory facilitated.

The MoU also provided for joint cooperation in training and human resources development, bringing in elements of medical assistance. It also included providing Libya with supplies of liquefied medical oxygen in response to any crisis due to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
