Egypt’s Prime Minister reviews report on efforts to provide COVID-19 treatment protocols

During a meeting with Madbouly, Dr Hossam Al-Masry, Medical Advisor to the Prime Minister, stressed the continued coordination and cooperation with the Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA), headed by Dr Tamer Essam, to provide all medications to treat patients.


Egypt’s Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly reviewed, on Thursday, a report on efforts to provide the required medications for treatment protocols against the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in May 2021.

During a meeting with Madbouly, Dr Hossam Al-Masry, Medical Advisor to the Prime Minister, stressed the continued coordination and cooperation with the Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA), headed by Dr Tamer Essam, to provide all medications to treat patients.

Al-Masry noted that the quantities pumped into the local market by various companies in May were sufficient to meet its needs. A total of 1,945.008 packages of azithromycina tablets and 509,378 bottles of azithromycin syrup were provided.

Moreover, an additional 4,577 bottles of azithromycin were provided, as well as 860 packs of Paracetamol tablets. This was in addition to 518,592 bottles of Paracetamol syrup, 1,509,490 strips of Zinc tablets, and 3,021,225 strips of Vitamin C tablets.
