Egypt’s chemicals, fertilisers exports reach $4.165bn in 10M of 2020: Abul Makarem

The Chemical Industries Export Council, headed by Chairperson Khaled Abul Makarem, has announced that Egypt’s chemicals and fertilisers exports during the first ten months (10M) of 2020 amounted to about $4.165bn.


The Chemical Industries Export Council, headed by Chairperson Khaled Abul Makarem, has announced that Egypt’s chemicals and fertilisers exports during the first ten months (10M) of 2020 amounted to about $4.165bn.

During a meeting held on Thursday evening, the council reviewed a report by the General Authority for Export and Import Control which revealed a 4% decline in growth of total Egyptian exports during the period from January to October 2020.

The report noted that the volume of Egyptian exports of these products reached $21.558bn,a compared to about $22.4bn during the same period of the previous year.

The report added that Egypt’s chemical industry exports recorded a decline of 11% during 10M of 2020, where it decreased to $4.163bn compared to about $4.673bn last year.

Abul Makarem said that plastic and rubber products ranked as the foremost exported items from Egypt, with exports amounting to $1.478bn, whilst fertilisers came in second place, with exports amounting to $1.147bn. Carton and paper products ranked in third place among Egyptian exports, with exports amounting to $408.65m.

Turkey came first in the list of countries that received Egyptian exports of chemical industries, with the volume of these exports reaching about $607.68m. India jumped to second place with total imports from Egypt worth $270m, followed by Italy with $224m.
