Amr Talaat, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, and Ashraf Sobhy, Minister of Youth and Sports, held a video conference meeting to discuss the technological preparations in the upcoming World Men’s Handball Championships.

The international event will be held at a range of covered halls across Egypt in January 2021, and is set to be one of the most prominent global sporting events of the year. The championship is due to be held in four stadiums, notably in Cairo, the New Administrative Capital (NAC), 6th of October City, and Borg El-Arab in Alexandria.

Sobhy emphasised the need for cooperation with all ministries and concerned authorities, as well as the need for coordination between them to provide the supplies and needs necessary for the tournament.

Talaat noted that his Ministry is ready to provide the necessary technical support to equip the stadiums at which the tournament will be held. This includes providing them with the equipment, technical requirements, communications, and information technology services necessary, in line with international standards.

This will, in turn, produce a tournament that befits Egypt’s international stature and reflects the country’s technological development.

It was agreed to provide these stadiums with the latest global technologies, to equip press centres and provide them with computers, laptops and Internet networks.

This would be in addition to logistical supplies from modern printers, copiers and screens with virtual display activities, in addition to providing wireless units distributed over the four halls equipped with WiFi.

There would also be WiFi devices provided to ensure 4G Internet access, as well as preparing and equipping telecommunications services, internet and display screens in the space designated for the championship draw ceremony next September.
