Mansoura prosecution orders detention of 23 people, including 4 females, on Sunday over attempts to prevent burial of a doctor who had died of the coronavirus (Covid-19) in Daqahleya governorate.

Hundreds of people in a small Daqahleya village tried to prevent the burial of the deceased doctor on Saturday over fears of the coronavirus spreading in the village.

Dr. Sonia Abdel Azim Aref had died while being treated for the coronavirus at Abu Khalifa Hospital in Ismailia.

Police forces had to fire tear gas to disperse the gathering and complete the ceremony. Dozens of the village’s resident were arrested at the time.

The Public Prosecutor charged the detainee with illegal gathering, terrorism, resistance to the authorities, obstructing public transportation, and blocking the road.
