Michael Jackson’s 60th birthday to be celebrated with charity auction

Jackson's two children, awarded Elizabeth Taylor AIDS legacy award for contribution to music, still third best-selling music artist

Late mega star Michael Jackson’s siblings commemorated his 60th birthday by launching an auction, through which all proceeds will go to the Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation, which supports and offers services to people diagnosed with Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV), according to Reuters.

The auction coincides with the “King of Pop” ninth death anniversary, who died after taking an overdose of anaesthetics medication, which he used to take to help him sleep.

The auction, taking place in November, offers novel designed pairs of ruby and diamond sneakers. It is estimated that it will be sold for over $50,000.

Jackson’s two children, Paris, 20, and Prince, 21, were previously awarded the Elizabeth Taylor Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) Foundation’s legacy award for their father’s contribution to the music world, who is still the third best-selling music artist.

Taylor was a close friend of Jackson. Prince, who is also an ambassador of the foundation said, “it is a privilege and honour to be here about something that my dad was so passionate about,” according to Reuters.

Last week, Jackson’s two children, brothers Tito and Jackie and Rhythm and Blues (R&B) singer Usher were among a total of 1,500 guests who attended the Cirque du Soleil show’s One, based on music by the “Thriller” singer.
