A number of policemen were killed in clashes with militants in bloody clashes in Egypt’s Western Desert, Egypt’s Interior Minister said on Friday.

The ministry hasn’t clarified the number of deaths among the police, which media outlets reckon to have reached 50.

BBC reported that more than 50 police officers were killed during clashes, while local media said 35 citing security sources.
