Minister of International Cooperation, South Korean ambassador discuss establishing a technology university for $6m

Talks to complete the development of Nag Hammadi-Luxor railway line signals systems to reduce train accidents

Minister of International Cooperation Sahar Nasr conducted talks on Tuesday with Yoon Soon-Gu, South Korean ambassador to Egypt, to discuss the possibility of the latter’s country providing a grant to Egypt worth $6m, according to a press release issued by the Ministry of International Cooperation.

According to the statement, the grant will be allocated to the field of technological education, specifically to establish a Korean-Egyptian technological university in order to graduate a new batch of experienced Egyptian youth.

Nasr also discussed the current projects between the two sides, including the 118 km Nag Hammadi-Luxor railway line signals systems, which aims to reduce train accidents through the use of sophisticated Korean technology in this field.

Nasr said that the government is keen on maintaining excellent relations with South Korea and expressed her hopes for further cooperation in all sectors.

In March 2016, Nasr had signed five agreements and memoranda of understanding with South Korea, valued at $3.1bn, on the sidelines of President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi’s visit to South Korea.
