The law’s proposal has been in the works for well over a year, reached State Council in late May

The parliament’s Culture and Media Committee, headed by former information minister Osama Heikal, started discussing the press and media institutions law, known in the media as the unified media law.

Several media institutions prepared their comments regarding the law, which are currently being and forwarded to parliament for review. Head of the Press Syndicate Yehia Qalash delivered a letter to Heikal on Sunday, requesting that the parliament notify the syndicate about the law.
