Joint projects with Iraq in oil, drilling activities under study: Petroleum Ministry

The minister is currently visiting Iraq, discussed potential partnership with Iraqi prime minister

Minister of Petroleum Tareq El-Molla is currently visiting Iraq and met with Iraqi prime minister Haider Al-Abadi yesterday.

The ministry said in a statement today that the two officials discussed activating the strategic cooperation initiative between the two countries, with the goal of mutual cooperation and exchange of experiences in different petroleum industries.

The statement cited the Iraqi prime minister as saying that the prospects of cooperation and joint strategic projects with Egypt will increase in the next period.

The office of the Iraqi prime minister said in a statement yesterday that Al-Abadi discussed with El-Molla ways to enhance the cooperation between the two countries in both fields of industry and oil and gas, as well as the formation of an Iraqi-Egyptian partnership through opening doors for new businesses between the companies of both countries.

The Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC) has offered huge tenders for the purchase of petroleum products over the past few days to compensate for the quantities that Saudi company Aramco stopped supplying.

Al-Abadi said that the prospect of cooperation and strategic projects will increase between the two countries, coinciding with the victories the Iraqis are achieving against terrorism which will allow larger opportunities and spaces for joint work.
