Court refers defence lawyers in Mayada Ashraf’s trial to disciplinary committee

Court session postponed to 24 September

The New Cairo Court referred the defence lawyers in the case on the murder of Mayada Ashraf to a disciplinary committee on Monday for not attending the trial session. The court also postponed the session to 24 September to hear to witness testimonies.

The court said that lawyers Mohamed Mubarak and Ayman Saleh did not apologise for not attending the session.

Forty-eight defendants are accused of killing Mayada Ashraf and two others, Mary George and Sherif Abdul Raouf, in March 2014. The suspects are accused of belonging to the “outlawed Muslim Brotherhood group”, possessing weapons, murder, and gathering in the Ain Shams district.
