The Ministry of Religious Endowments reputedly closed a small mosque in Alexandria which was scheduled to host Salafist preacher Abdel Moneim Al-Shahat, spokesperson for the ultraconservative Salafist Call organisation, to give the Friday sermon and lead the prayers.

The Endowments sector in Alexandria ordered the closure of the mosque as it is illegal for small mosques to host Friday prayer.

Al-Shahat has been giving the sermon at this mosque since the beginning of the year.
