Egyptian ambassador to Yemen Yousef Al-Sharqawy and the Yemeni president’s advisor Abd Al Aziz Al-Muflehy met in Riyadh where Al-Muflehy thanked Egypt and its President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi for their support of Yemen during the current conflict between the Yemeni government and the Houthi rebel movement.

Al-Sharqawy said the Egyptian priorities include the achievement of unity in Yemen,  regional safety, and the legitimacy of their current President Hadi Mansour.

The representatives agreed that the solution to the Yemeni conflict should emerge from the framework of the Gulf initiative, an internal Yemini dialogue, and the implementation of Security Council Resolution 2216.

Yemen sees Egypt as a key regional partner since Egypt gained membership in the UN Security Council, which will be effective at the beginning of 2016.

The meeting also addressed the possibility of providing Wheelchair Yemenis in Cairo permanent residence and providing medical services to patients wounded in Yemen.
