A policeman was killed and another injured in Sharqeya on Monday morning, according to state-run newspaper Al-Ahram.

Two unknown assailants riding a motor-bike opened fire on the police vehicle securing the area of Belbees in the governorate.

The dead policeman died after he was transferred to hospital after sustaining injuries.

Security personnel have been targeted since the ouster of former president Mohamed Morsi in July 2013.
