The Interior Ministry arrested on Monday 136 people on charges of belonging to the outlawed Muslim Brotherhood.

Those arrested were also suspected of attempting to hinder the Economic Summit recently held in Sharm El-Sheikh, according to an Interior Ministry press statement.

Security forces arrested 65 elements who allegedly participated in riots. A further 15 others were arrested in Alexandria governorate for allegedly being Brotherhood members and three from Daqahleya governorate.

The statement added they arrested a school teacher from Sohag, who created a page on Facebook called “Hasm” (decisiveness). They accused her, through the page, of attempting to incite riots and to hinder the Economic Summit.

The teacher reportedly confessed to establishing the page according to orders received from Ahmed Al-Arabi, a leading figure of the Brotherhood who now resides in Turkey and works for a Brotherhood-owned TV station, according to a ministry statement.

Furthermore, the statement said that small marches by alleged Brotherhood members were dispersed by security forces in different governorates. Nine protesters were allegedly in possession of flares, Molotov cocktails and fuel.

In the same context, 43 more persons were arrested from different governorates, accused of recent terror attacks witnessed by the state.

The Interior Ministry announced in the statement that strict security measures were under taken to secure the Summit, and to hinder any plans that target the national security and stability.
