Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces Mahmoud Hijazi met Secretary General of the Italian Defense Ministry Enzo Stavanica and his accompanying delegation on Wednesday.

During the meeting, the officials discussed a number of cooperation issues, especially military ties. They also conducted talks about the security and stability of the region.

The delegation expressed Italy’s support for Egypt and its solidarity with the Egyptian people in the war against terrorism, reported state-owned Al-Ahram. The officials also praised Egypt’s efforts towards the restoration of good economic and security balance and completing the roadmap, according to Al-Ahram.

Egyptian Minister of Defence Sedki Sobhi met with his Italian counterpart Roberta Pinotti in November. They discussed international developments in the Middle East and the Mediterranean region, including terrorism and its impact on security and stability, as well as clandestine migration.
