Four detainees escaped from a police station in Biyala, Kafr Al-Sheikh, on Sunday morning after a group charged at the door with blankets they had set on fire, the Ministry of Interior said.
Three of the four who escaped have been caught by the police and “legal proceedings” against them have begun. The search for the fourth continues, said the ministry in its statement.
Police efforts to thwart the attempt resulted in a “stampede” leading to the escape of the men, according to the statement.
