Cairo Criminal Court on Wednesday postponed until Thursday the trial of former president Mohamed Morsi and others due to an absence of witnesses, according to Bahaa Abdelrahman, one of the defence lawyers involved in the case.

Alongside Morsi, 14 others are accused  of inciting the killing of protesters outside the presidential palace in December 2012. The protest was held to oppose a decree issued by Morsi  that effectively exempted decisions from judicial oversight.  Clashes at the protest resulted in the death of 10 demonstrators.

Muslim Brotherhood Supreme Guide Mohamed Badie, Freedom and Justice Party Chairman Saad Al-Katatni, and senior Freedom and Justice Party member Mohamed Al-Beltagy are among the 14 other defendants in the case.

When none of the witnesses attended the case on Wednesday to testify, the Cairo Criminal Court moved the trial to Thursday. The court has heard the testimonies of five prosecution witnesses, and was expected to hear five more witnesses on Wednesday, reported state-run MENA.
