In the past 10 days resorts all around Egypt were filled with the noise of families enjoying a holiday in the sun. The silent touristic towns all along the coast of the Red Sea and Sinai were transformed after the very quiet weeks that were the result of Western tourists staying away due to the negative travel warnings given out by their governments.
But the travelers have returned home, and instead of the hustle and bustle that would be normal this time of year, the beaches are empty again. For all of those who work in the tourism sector, the sound of silence is deafening.
