Assistant to the President for Political Affairs Pakinam El Sharkawy will chair a panel discussion to create the National Council for Justice and Equality (NCJE) being held at the presidential palace on Tuesday under the auspices of President Mohamed Morsi.

A presidential statement published on Sunday highlighted that representatives from the Orthodox Church, Al-Azhar, political parties and civil society will attend the discussion.

El Sharkawy released a statement ahead of the meeting explaining that the aim of the discussion is “to exchange opinions and proposals” for the creation of the council. She added that the NCJE aims to create a consensus between the government and social and political groups to develop “comprehensive policies and preventative strategies to meet the challenges of the application of citizenship on the ground”.
