EgyptAir signed a cooperation agreement with Palestinian Airways to launch a series of flights from the Egyptian city of Al-Arish to carry Palestinian pilgrims to Muslim holy sites in Saudi Arabia.

The agreement specified that Egypt will launch 124 flights on a 321 Airbus planes from 30 January to 28 August, transporting an estimated 19,716 Palestinian pilgrims to Jedda.

Rushdie Zakaria, the president of EgyptAir, said that EgyptAir “seeks to provide the best, most comfortable service to its clients from all over the world, especially its Palestinian brothers.”

He added that the agreement would help revive trips that ended several years ago from Al-Arish to Saudi Arabia serving Palestinians from the Gaza Strip. These flights, he said, would provide complete services to Palestinians and would be a better alternative than first transporting Palestinians to Cairo Airport.

Under the agreement, EgyptAir will provide four trips per week from Al-Arish to Jedda on Wednesdays and Thursdays until the end of Ramadan, allowing Palestinians to undertake the Umra.
