Political activist Alber Saber's trial for contempt of religion postponed to 17 October

Al -Marg Misdemeanour Court postponed political activist Alber Saber’s case until 17 October with Saber remaining under preventive detention on Wednesday. Saber is charged with “contempt of the Islamic and Christian faiths,” and “insulting god.”

Saber’s mother Kariman Meseeha was sobbing when she say the cage he would be held in for the trial. Saber himself looked calm and composed when he was brought into the court hall but it was obvious that he suffered abuse while kept in custody. It is important to note that Saber has not recieved any sentence yet.

The defence lawyers said they had not been allowed to view the case files yet and demanded the case be postponed until they do so, with Saber being released in the meantime. The judge did postpone the case but opted to keep Saber in preventative imprisonment.
