CAIRO: Assistant referee Nasser Sadek will be Egypt s only representative at the summer s World Cup finals in South Africa.

Sadek, who will assist Algerian referee Mohamed Benouza during the tournament, has been chosen by world governing body FIFA to take part in the football s most prestigious event.

Egyptian referees have missed out on the World Cup for the first time since the 1994 tournament.

Gamal Al-Ghandour officiated at the 1998 and 2002 World Cups while Essam Abdul-Fattah participated in the 2006 edition in Germany.

The Pharaohs failed to end their World Cup jinx after losing 1-0 to Algeria in a controversial playoff in November last year.
