CAIRO: A second-string Zamalek side were held to a goalless draw by second-division club Dakhlia in a friendly game on Wednesday.

Zamalek coach Michel Decastel fielded several substitutes and youngsters to asses their performance before the new season kicks off.

The Cairo giants starting line-up included new defender Ahmed Ezz Al-Regal and forgotten midfielder Ibrahim Salah.

Ivorian forward Marcel Adiko, who undergoes a trial at Zamalek, also started the game.

Zamalek s regulars are scheduled to face Premier League newly-promoted side Gouna in another friendly on Thursday.

The White Knights open their league campaign against ENPPI on the seventh of August.
