CAIRO: Egypt reported 10 new cases of H1N1, the Ministry of Health said Saturday, bringing the total number of swine flu cases to 185 cases.

According to a ministry statement, the cases include six Egyptians: one coming from Saudi Arabia, another arriving from Britain, three who came in contact with other H1N1-positive cases and one who had not come in contact with any cases. There were also four Saudis who just arrived in Egypt.

The new cases have been hospitalized and are in stable condition.

A total of 130 cases have fully recovered and the rest are being treated, the statement read, adding that the rate of deaths is very low, with just one case reported so far.

A total of 48 suspected cases of swine flu tested negative in South Sinai, Giza, Cairo, Menufiya, Aswan, Western Qaliubiya and Beni Suef. Ten suspected cases of bird flu also tested negative.

In related news, at least 160 Britons were in quarantine this weekend for swine flu in China, India, Singapore and Egypt, the Foreign Office in London said Friday, according to AFP.

At least 30 people with swine flu have died in Britain, which has been hit harder than any other European country by the A(H1N1) virus, and officials said Thursday that there were around 100,000 new cases in the country.
