CAIRO: Ahly center-half Wael Gomaa could miss Saturday s CAF Confederation Cup meeting with Santos of Angola due to injury, the Egyptian champions said.

The 33-year-old is struggling with a groin problem sustained in Monday s league win over Harras Hodoud.

Gomaa has just recovered from a hamstring injury against Hodoud, and didn’t seem to be at full fitness during the 1-0 win in Alexandria.

Subsequently, Ahly said that the Egypt defender could sit out the continental tie as a precaution.

Ahly brace for at torrid finale to their season as they aim for the Confederation Cup group stage, in addition to their domestic title defense.
