CAIRO: Ahly forward Hussein Yasser failed to make Qatar s preliminary squad for next month s Gulf Cup of Nations.

French coach Bruno Metsu did not include the talented frontman in a provisional 35-man squad, due to his lack of first team football.

Prior to joining Ahly, Yasser was a regular member of the Maroons line up, but the 26-year-old struggled to find his place in Manuel Jose s starting eleven.
