CAIRO: Amir Azmi has returned to Saudi club Al-Shabab after his move to Hungary s Debreceni VSC fell through, the player said on Thursday.

I chose to return to Al-Shabab because the transfer window has closed in most of the countries, the international defender told FilGoal.com.

I had no alternative but to return to the Saudi team as my contract with them still has three years to run.

Azmi, who was linked with a move to Ismaili in the close season, revealed that his move to Debreceni failed because the Hungarian champions weren t serious enough to complete the deal.

The former Zamalek defender is aware he will not be granted a chance to play with Al-Shabab and is looking to depart the Saudis.

I know that I have no place in Al-Shabab because they already have three foreigners in their squad.

I will normally train with them to maintain my fitness level but will look for a move out in the January transfer window, he concluded.
