CAIRO: The Appeals’ Court accepted the law suit asking for eliminating the sentences on Hossam Abou Al-Fotouh, one of the most famous Egyptian businessmen and ex-owner of BMW car dealership.

Abou Al-Fotouh has so far spent around four years in jail.

The office of Farid El Dib, Abou Al-Fotouh s lawyer, confirmed the news to The Daily Star Egypt, yet indicated that the sentences have not been eliminated yet.

The criminal court had charged Abou Al-Fotouh with the inability to repay his loans to banks. The court asked him to pay around LE 408 million to banks and sentenced him to 10 years in jail, according to Al-Masry Al-Youm newspaper.

El Dib was unavailable to comment.
