Egypt won the gold medal of the flyweight class in Africa s fifth region boxing championship Saturday, reported local news agency Mena.

Egyptian boxer Ramadan Abdel-Rahim defeated his Ethiopian contender in the final, and won the region boxing championship. This qualifies Egypt for the upcoming African Boxing Championship due in Madagascar in June, the report added.

Players from four countries – Egypt, Uganda, Sudan and Ethiopia – took part in the region’s boxing championship, which was held in Cairo on April 11-14, according to Mena.
