SHARM EL-SHEIKH: Two Egyptian workers lost limbs Friday when an anti-personnel mine left over from one of the Israeli-Arab wars exploded in the Sinai peninsula, police said.

Adel Mohammed Abdul Aal, 31, lost a leg while Abu Bakr Ahmed, 35, lost an arm in the accident at Al-Nabq near the Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheikh.

Egypt is one of the most heavily mined countries in the world, with millions of Egyptian and Israeli landmines in the Sinai adding to millions more laid in the Western Desert during World War II.
