Egypt, Jordan leaders discuss issues of regional, international importance

Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi and Jordan’s King Abdullah II undertook a telephone conversation, on Sunday evening, during which the two heads of state exchanged views on a number of regional issues.

During the telephone conversation, the two sides also discussed bilateral relations, with a particular focus on trade and cooperation in the fields of energy and electricity connection.

Both Al-Sisi and King Abdullah agreed to continue joint efforts to resolve ongoing crises in a number of countries in the region and to restore security and stability, by supporting national institutions.

They also reviewed developments related to the Palestinian Cause, and exchanged views on how to break the stalemate concerning the peace process in the Middle East. This would also take into account methods of advancing efforts to resume negotiations between the Palestinians and the Israelis.

On Sunday, King Abdullah met with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, as the latter began a tour to Jordan and Egypt. During his visit to both countries, Abbas will discuss the latest updates in the regional and international arenas. Abbas is set to meet with President Al-Sisi in Cairo on Monday.
