The “Our Heritage” handicrafts and heritage exhibition, held under the patronage of Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, will commence on 10 October.

The exhibition has been organised by the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency (MSMEDA) at the Egypt Center for International Exhibitions in the Fifth Settlement area of New Cairo. The free entry exhibition is scheduled to run every day until 15 October from 10 am to 10 pm.

Nevine Gamea, Minister of Trade and Industry and Chairperson of MSMEDA, said that the exhibition is part of President Al-Sisi’s directives to provide full support to Egypt’s heritage industries and handicrafts sectors.

This is due to their economic and cultural importance, with other work being carried out to increase both the production and promotion of these ancient arts. Exhibitions such as “Our Heritage” also ensure that these products are made available at commercial prices.

Gamea added that Sudan is this year’s exhibition guest of honour, and distinct sections have been allocated for Sudanese heritage products made of leather, wood, and minerals.

The sections will also exhibit and highlight the many heritage industries for which Sudan is famous, especially as it boasts a range of unique handicrafts and heritage that express the country’s cultural and folklore.

The minister indicated that the Sudanese government has expressed its great interest in supporting and developing its heritage projects sector and expand production in this area.

Over 600 projects and exhibitors from across Egypt, as well as various ministries and agencies concerned with the development of small enterprises, are participating in the exhibition. The exhibitors will display a large variety of handicrafts that characterise each of Egypt’s governorates.

The exhibition will also include live performances, directly to the public, of craftsmen presenting manufacturing methods for various products.
