Egypt’s Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry announced, on Monday, that Egypt and Saudi Arabia have reached consensus regarding external interference in the Middle East region. Al-Saud arrived in Cairo on Monday for a one-day visit.

Shoukry’s remarks on the need to confront the external interference came during a press conference in Cairo with his Saudi counterpart, Faisal bin Farhan Al-Saud. He stressed that Egypt does not seek an escalation of the Libya crisis, but rather supports a peaceful solution in the war-torn country.

Egypt’s Foreign Minister also said that the spread of terrorist groups in some countries in the Middle East threatens Arab national security.

Shoukry added that Egypt is keen on continuing the close coordination with Saudi Arabia in all fields, in order to support Arab stability and security.

Al-Saud voiced his country’s support for June’s Cairo Declaration regarding Libya, whilst also strongly rejecting foreign interference in the war-torn country.

Earlier in the day, both Egyptian and Saudi ministers held talks on regional and international developments.
