Annual headline inflation rate hikes to 6.8% in December

Annual headline inflation rate hikes to 6.8% in December 2019 compared to 2.7% in November, according to Central Agency for Public Mobilisation and Statistics (CAPMAS) on Thursday.
However, the annual inflation rate during December 2019 decreased compared to December 2018, when it recorded 11.1% at the time.
Moreover, the annual inflation rate in cities reached 7.1% in December 2019, compared to 3.6% in November.
Nevertheless, monthly inflation rate in December recorded a negative rate of 0.2% for the total of the Republic, compared to a negative rate of 0.5% during November, CAPMAS said.
The inflation rate decreased in November 2019 by 0.5% compared to October, which was 1% higher compared to September, which rose by 0.3% compared to August, which rose by 0.7% compared to July, which rose by 1.5% compared to June, which was down by 1%, compared to May, which increased by 1%, compared to April, which rose 0.4%, compared to March, which increased 0.9% compared to April.
