Over 1,500 youth participate in GDG DevFest Egypt conference at AUC

The Google Developer Groups (GDG) DevFest Egypt conference was held on Saturday at the American University in Cairo (AUC) and was attended by more than 1,500 young participants.

DevFest is the largest non-profit conference focusing on software developers, engineers, and software industry in general. DevFest Egypt is organised by GDGs, local groups of developers interested in Google products and open-source technologies, from different areas around the country.

These groups are located in 10 Egyptian cities. They organise workshops, events, and conferences throughout the year in Egypt and hold together the annual developer festival.

DevFest Egypt discussed many important topics, such as development of phone applications, cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and machine learning. Engineers from Egyptian and international companies also participate in the DevFest. The festival aims to help those interested in the field by presenting the latest technology and giving them the chance to discuss related topics with the attendees.

The event also discussed the development of smart aid programmes, virtual reality, women empowerment, and support in the fields of technology with trainers from all over Egypt.

Nasser Ali, a team leader at DevFest Egypt, talked about the importance of the conference and its effect on raising technological awareness and organising volunteer programmes for youth.

Mohamed Omar, a project manager at Misr Technology Services, talked about the company’s work and its keenness to support youth technological conferences and to provide an opportunity for young people to apply for jobs.

Moreover, YouTuber Ahmed Samir talked about how technology can help reduce the dangers of depression. While, Asmaa Ibrahim, a Google Developers expert in Egypt, talked about empowering cloud computing for artificial intelligence applications.

Habiba Gadallah, a software engineer and organiser of the JavaScript developer community, talked about advanced web applications.

Ahmad Abu Al-Dahab, a Google Developers expert, talked about building filters applications from Google. While, Mahmoud Elrefaey, Game Development Team Leader at Dasa Technology solutions, talked about the game development industry in Egypt.

Tarek El Sawaf, founder and CDO of Desrim, spoke about the user experience about AI products.

This edition of the event comes under the sponsorship of some Egyptian companies, led by Misr Technology Services, with the support of Google.

The festival aims to help those interested in technology in Egypt to gain a wider view of the tech industry by hosting events that present the latest development of the field and current topics. At these events, participants may have their questions answered and receive help in creating long-term aspiration with the goal of having an impact on oneself and then the world.
