TICAD7 is excellent opportunity for international partners to support Africa’s development: MIIC

The Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD7) is an excellent gathering of international partners to promote Africa development, Minister of Investment and International Cooperation, Sahar Nasr, said during a meeting with the Japanese ambassador, Masaki Noke, on Wednesday night at his residence.
The event was organised in the presence of  senior officials of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) in addition to representatives of Egypt-Japan Business Council.
“TICAD7 that will be organised at end of this month, is an important partnership between Egypt and Japan in light of Egypt’s presidency of the African Union (AU). Egypt and Japan cooperate in various key projects such as the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM), education partnership initiative and transportation projects,” Nasr mentioned.
Japanese investments are worth of $880m through about 106 companies in Egypt, according to the minister, noting that Japanese investments increased by 74.3% in Fiscal Year (FY) 2017/18.
About 50 high level Egyptian companies and several ministers will accompany President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi in TICAD7, ambassador Noke told Daily News Egypt on the sidelines of the meeting, asserting that Egypt is a key partner for Japan .
TICAD7 will play a vital role in promoting the business and trade cooperation with Africa, the ambassador mentioned, adding that the conference will also discuss issues like women empowerment, climate change, and peace in Africa.
