Al-Azhar strongly condemned, the repeated forced entries carried out by Israeli settlers through the Moroccan gate (Bab Al-Maghrib) to the Al-Aqsa Mosque.

The Israeli settlers stormed in to perform their Talmudic rituals inside the holy Muslim place.

In a statement released on Sunday, Al-Azhar accused Israeli police of facilitating entry for the settlers on Sunday and Monday.

On Sunday, dozens of Jewish settlers stormed the compound of Al-Aqsa Mosque as a response to calls from Jewish religious groups to celebrate the Shavuot feast as the 10 commandments were given on this day.

Al-Azhar stressed that such brutal practices which seek to Judaize Jerusalem and to control the Al-Aqsa Mosque will not change history.

“The issue of Jerusalem will remain alive until we recover it from the hands of the usurpers,” read the statement.

“The Arabic identity of Jerusalem and the Al-Aqsa Mosque is unthinkable. A firm truth will not succeed in the attempts of world Zionism to falsify or erase it,” according to the statement.

Al-Azhar called on all international bodies and organisations to maintain the legal status of the city of Jerusalem, to affirm its identity, to intervene immediately in stopping these “blatant attacks”, and to deter the “Zionist arrogance” that defies international resolutions.

Moreover, Egypt’s Grand Mufti Shawqy Allam denounced the Israeli settlers who stormed into Al-Aqsa Mosque as he warned of Israel’s plan to Judaize Jerusalem.

Allam also called for the international community and regional organisations to intervene in stopping the Israeli violations on the Al-Aqsa Mosque.
