Egypt’s Minister of Military Production Mohamed El-Assar said that the ministry with the participation of the Youth and Sports Ministry is considering establishing an updatable digital database of electronic tickets for football fans in the Youth and Sports Ministry headquarters.

El-Assar said that the ministry will update a safe information base in accordance with the latest global standards of information security. The Ministries of Interior and Youth and Sport will participate in implementing the new system.

Furthermore, Falcon Group International and Dominick Company will take part in the process.

On Tuesday, El-Assar addressed the new project with Ashraf Sobhu, the minister of youth and sport and top representatives from the Interior Ministry, as well as officials from Falcon and Dominick.

They concluded to take further measures to ease the returning of football fans to stadiums based on a compulsive electronic system, reaffirming that “the state supports the return of fans.”

The new electronic system will be responsible for issuing electronic tickets and preparing analytical reports and security information statics to the concerned bodies.

Last month, the Youth and Sports Ministry decreed to gradually reallow fans to return to Egypt’s stadiums, starting from September following years of a ban.

Football fans were banned from attending local matches in 2012 after 72 supporters died in clashes in a February stadium riot at a game in Port Said between local club Al-Masry and Al Ahly.

In May 2015, an Egyptian court banned all hardcore football fan groups known as Ultras over terrorism accusations, considering all their activities illegal.
