Press Syndicate demands meeting Abdel Aal to discuss new laws

Members of council of Press Syndicate headed by Abdel Mohsen Salama demanded in an urgent meeting on Tuesday, to meet Egyptian Parliament Speaker Ali Abdel Aal and head of media and culture committee to discuss their remarks over the new press and media laws, said Hussien Al-Zanaty, secretary of syndicate to reporters.

Al-Zanaty also said that the syndicate is demanding the meeting to be held, as soon as possible to bring the views closer and ease the anger of the members of the general assembly.

He explained that the request was discussed by 183 journalist to hold an urgent general assembly meeting and was decided to be delayed until failing to find a solution through peaceful ways of negotiations.

The journalist noted that council will be in full session until the demands of the syndicate and their remarks on the law are met.

The meeting was held to discuss updates of the controversial law and the remarks of the State Council that included that some of its articles are unconstitutional, in addition to discuss the registration of fellow journalists with the syndicate.
