The US embassy’s Chargé d’Affaires Thomas Goldberger, said that his country has very close relations with Egypt in the military, security, and economic areas.

Goldberger told media reporters on the sidelines of the embassy’s Independence Day celebration on Wednesday evening that Egypt’s economy is strong and growing, with American businesses and investors in the vanguard.

“Our military, security, and law enforcement ties are closer than ever. We have accomplished a great deal over the past year,” said Goldberger.

Goldberger received greetings from President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi on the occasion, conveyed by Presidency Chamberlain Abdel Aziz Al Sherif.

“We have brought the best of American culture to Egypt and sponsored hundreds of two-way educational exchanges, including through the Fulbright Programme,” said Goldberger.

Meanwhile, Goldberger said that the USAID is thriving as Egypt’s leading bilateral development partner, adding that, over the past year, the USAID launched nine new cooperative programmes, in partnership with Egyptian agencies and NGOs.

Goldberger added that Egypt will receive an American business delegation in the fall.

Notably, the American Chamber of Commerce in Egypt (AmCham) is organising a visit for about 50 American firms, according to a previous announcement by Hisham Fahmy, CEO of AmCham, adding that the chamber is organising the planned visit in collaboration with AmCham in Washington DC and the US-Egypt Business Council.

“Many of the invited companies are already investing in Egypt, but getting the companies’ regional directors aims at closely discussing the opportunities and challenges to help better attract new investments,” noted Fahmy.
