Ali Abdel Aal meets ambassadors to boost bilateral relations

Parliament Speaker Ali Abdel Aal met with ambassadors of Kazakhstan, France, South Korea, and Georgia on Tuesday to discuss bilateral relations and enhance future cooperation between them.

Abdel Aal welcomed the ambassadors’ presence in Cairo and discussed with them updates of their countries’ relations with Egypt.

Beginning with Kazakhstan, he discussed the commonalities between Egypt and Kazakhstan in all fields, especially the parliamentary field, and also asserted that the previous visit of President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi to Kazakhstan had contributed to opening new horizons for cooperation between the two countries at all levels.

He also discussed with French Ambassador to Egypt Stéphane Romatet the French proposal on the establishment of a permanent secretariat for the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union for the Mediterranean, which is expected to be discussed on 24 February.

As for South Korea, Abdel Aal stressed the importance of the relations between Egypt and that nation, noting that it is a leader in the field of technology and has a successful experience in economic development, which Egypt is impressed by and seeks to benefit from the experiences of South Korea in the process of reform and economic development.

For his part, the Korean ambassador praised Egypt’s leading and vital role in the Middle East, and expressed his country’s appreciation for this status, which was manifested during the visit of Al-Sisi to South Korea in 2016, resulting in strengthened cooperation between the two countries through the signing of a number of conventions in transportation, defence, and military production areas, as well as the establishment of an Egyptian-Korean university specialised in technology.

Meanwhile, Kazakhstan’s Ambassador Arman Isagaliev stressed the importance that his country is attaching to enhancing cooperation with Egypt in light of the celebration of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, which began in April 1992.

In his meeting with the ambassador of Georgia, Abdel Aal stressed the links and commonalities that bring together Egypt and Georgia in all fields, especially the field of parliamentary cooperation. He also expressed his aspiration to activate parliamentary visits between the two countries. For his part, the Georgian ambassador stressed the need to strengthen joint cooperation between the two countries, especially with regard to parliamentary relations between the two countries.
