National Council for Women (NCW) and AccorHotels Group signed on Wednesday a cooperation protocol to support women’s products, inaugurating an exhibition showcasing the supported projects.
Salah Oumoudden, AccorHotels managing director and vice president of operations in Egypt and Saudi Arabia, said the agreement comes in the context of supporting national industries produced by women, and help them achieve economic empowerment.
Other exhibitions will be hosted at hotel branches across the country to present women’s products to help them achieve greater sales in less time and, thus, increase their profits.
NCW President Maya Morsi said that the cooperation agreement with AccorHotels supports many women not only economically, but also socially and morally.
Morsi explained that 13 individual exhibitors, in addition to five civil associations, joined the exhibit from various governorates, including Luxor, Sharm El-Sheikh, and Hurghada, where they were able to market their products to foreign tourists as well as Egyptian guests at AccorHotels.
She pointed out that the global volume of handicrafts trade exceeds $100bn annually.
Oumoudden told Daily News Egypt that more than 35% of the international company’s employees are women.
He added that Accor has a goal of bringing the percentage of women managers at its hotels to 35% as well and it also hopes to reach the same goal in Egypt in the coming period.
The signing of the protocol comes within the framework of AccorHotels’ solidarity week, an initiative designed to support the community.
