Al-Sisi discusses security conditions in North Sinai with army, leading police figures

President Abdel Fattal Al-Sisi held on Saturday a meeting with a number of leading figures of the Supreme Council of Armed Forces (SCAF) and the Supreme Council of Police Forces in the presence of both the defence and interior ministers, according to a statement issued by the presidency.

The meeting came as part of regular ones held by Al-Sisi with leading figures from the police and army to follow up on the security condition across Egypt, particularly in North Sinai, the statement noted.

“The meeting reviewed the security measures that the army and police take to curtail terrorist groups’ attempts of shaking Egypt’s stability and security,” the statement read.

The presidency’s spokesperson said that Al-Sisi praised the sacrifices that the police and army make in the ongoing war against terrorism. Al-Sisi further asserted on the necessity of continuing the coordination between army and police forces to eliminate terrorists.

Moreover, the meeting witnessed the reviewing of a number of subjects related to Egypt’s internal affairs in which Al-Sisi instructed them to heavily curb any assaults on the Nile River throughout all of Egypt’s governorates, the statement explained.
