After a long tiring day, usually the first thing to come into someone’s mind is a hot, tasty meal – but facing the fact of not having readymade food to eat may not be so joyful. This is where the role of “Fel Talaga” comes in.

“Fel Talaga” (In the Fridge) is an application suggesting recipes for ingredients they already have but don’t know how to mix. All the user has to do is to enter the components that happen to be in the kitchen and “Fel Talaga” provides a fast, tasty, and easily-made recipe.

The application won first prize in “Fekrathon”- a series of technology events, training, and workshops provided to Egyptian students sponsored by USAID (US Agency for International Development) and AUC (the American University in Cairo).

It took 15 people and three months of training to come up with the idea of “Fel Talaga”, and within one month of excessive work, the application was ready to hit the market.

“We found the idea very interesting as it speaks a wide range of people – not only youth. The team succeeded in creating a design that suits all ages and cultures,” said Mohammed Gamal Ragab, one of the panel’s judges. “The development of such an idea can be fascinating and it’s a good seed for investors” he said.

The ideas and their application in the real world were implemented in a professional way, and that indicates that the power of youth and creativity is unlimited and cannot be controlled, according to Gamal.

“The competition was severe and challenging and getting to decide a first place application was one of the hardest things. Such an event should be held much more than once a year,” said Gamal.

Gamal finds such events like “Fekathon” very helpful in developing youthful ideas and passion in technology and creativity. “All the ideas were breathtaking,” he said.
